Most yogis don’t consider biomechanical details like scapular stabilization, but they should. The past decade has shown a dramatic increase of students and teachers with RSI’s - repetitive stress injuries. Your practice may not be bothering you now, but are you taking measures to ensure a long term healthy practice?
This workshop is offered to teachers and students that want to know more about the anatomy and physiology of the Glenohumeral joint, aka the shoulder. We will discuss the bones, joints, muscles and movements of the shoulder complex. You will leave with a better understanding of HOW and WHY stabilization of this joint is crucial for a well-aligned, long-term yoga practice.
This workshop is a combination of lecture and open-level practice.
CEU’s for Yoga Alliance will be provided for teachers upon request.
Asana highlighted in our session will include:
Tadasana
Downward Facing Dog
Plank
Chaturanga Dandasana
Upward facing Dog
Bakasana
Handstand
rotator cuff
